Your privacy
A journal only works if it’s truly yours. So the promise is simple: what you write here is for you. anava is a place for your thoughts to land, not a product that mines them.
Your words stay yours
Everything you write is encrypted, never sold, and never used to train AI. The threads the guide notices in your writing, the people and themes you keep returning to, are there to serve you, not to be packaged or passed along.
Nothing leaves without your choice
The one and only way your words ever reach another person is if you deliberately choose to offer a single line to Anava, and even then only after a human review. Writing in anava is not a contribution to anything. It’s yours, full stop, unless you decide otherwise, one line at a time.
No dark patterns
No streaks to guilt you back, no badges, no engagement tricks. The guide never reaches for you; you reach for it. We’d rather you close the app and return to your evening than keep you scrolling.
The detailed policy
The plain-English promises above are the heart of it. Here is the full detail of how anava handles your information.
Who this policy is for
anava is operated by Sol Dream, Inc. This policy explains what information anava collects, how it is used, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. It sits beneath the promises above and fills in the detail.
We keep your writing in the cloud rather than only on your device, so your journal is there on any device you sign in from and is not lost if you forget a password.
What we collect
Account information: your email address, and, if you sign in with Google, the basic profile information Google provides.
What you write: your journal entries and notes, and the people and themes the guide automatically notices in your writing in order to build your private threads.
Technical information: your device and browser type, IP address (used to keep the service secure and within fair-usage limits), and basic logs.
Product usage: a minimal set of server-side events, such as the fact that a reply happened, recorded through a strict allowlist built to keep the words you write from ever being included.
Payment information: handled by Stripe. We receive limited billing details such as your subscription status and the last four digits of your card. We never see or store your full card number.
How we use it
We use your information only to run anava for you: to show your writing back to you, let the guide respond, build and recall your threads, keep the service secure and within its cost limits, process payments, and send the essential emails the service needs, plus a gentle evening reminder if you opt in.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell it.
The services that help run anava
Running anava means trusting a few carefully chosen providers, each with a narrow job:
- Anthropic, to generate the guide's replies. The relevant part of your writing is sent to its API and processed under terms that prohibit using it to train its models.
- Stripe, to process payments securely.
- Resend, to send essential and opt-in emails.
- PostHog, for product analytics, used server-side only and through an allowlist so the words you write are never sent to it. It sets no tracking cookies.
- Sentry, for error monitoring, configured not to send personal data.
- Railway and our database provider, to host and store the service.
- If you use voice input, a transcription provider turns your audio into text and returns it to you for review; the audio is not kept.
What we deliberately don't use
We use no advertising or marketing pixels of any kind, including from Meta, Google, or Apple, and no session-replay or behavioral trackers. We made these choices on purpose. A journal only works if it is truly yours.
What we never do
We never sell your writing. We never use it to train AI models. And it never reaches another person, with only two exceptions: a single line that you deliberately choose to Contribute, which a person reviews before anything is included, or a disclosure we are legally compelled to make, which we will narrow or resist wherever we lawfully can.
Cookies
We use only the essential cookie needed to keep you signed in. We use no advertising or tracking cookies, which is why anava does not show you a cookie-consent banner.
Security
Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest, protected by access controls, and the crisis-response floor that points to 988 and other help is deterministic code, not a model decision. No system is ever perfectly secure, but we take protecting your writing seriously.
If something goes wrong
If a security incident ever affects your personal information, we will act promptly to address it and will notify you and the appropriate authorities where the law requires.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your writing for as long as your account exists, so your journal is there whenever you return. We do not quietly delete it or expire it.
You stay in control of it. You can export everything at any time from the account panel under "Download my notebook." You can clear your history and start from a blank slate with "Start fresh," which removes your entries and what the guide has gathered while keeping your account. And if you want your account and everything in it deleted entirely, write to hello@anava.space and we will delete it, except for anything we are legally required to keep.
Your rights
You can access, export, correct, and delete your information. If you live in California, note that we do not sell personal information. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, our legal bases for handling your data are performing our agreement with you and our legitimate interest in running a safe service, and you have the rights granted under the GDPR. To exercise any of these, write to hello@anava.space.
Children
anava is intended for people aged 16 and older and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their information.
Where your data is processed
anava is operated from the United States, and your information is processed there. By using anava, you understand that your information will be handled in the United States.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy over time. When we do, we will revise the date above, and for material changes we will give notice by email or within anava.
